Molding performance of POM

1) THE hygroscopicity of POM is low, generally 0.20%~0.25%. It can be formed and processed without drying, but the wet raw materials must be dried. Drying can also improve product gloss and mechanical strength.

2) The melting temperature range of POM is very narrow, the melting and curing speed is fast, and the crystallization speed is also fast. The crystallization occurs when the material temperature is slightly lower than the melting temperature, and the fluidity decreases rapidly.

3) POM has strong thermal sensitivity and is easy to decompose. The decomposition temperature is 240℃, but it will also decompose when it stays at 200℃ for more than 30mm and emits irritating and corrosive gases during decomposition.

4) POM has a high degree of crystallinity. When it changes from amorphous melt to crystalline solid, the shrinkage rate is close to 20%. Therefore, it is necessary to keep pressure and fill material to prevent too much shrinkage to ensure the size of plastic parts.
